Thanks for coming to the Girl Scout page!
St. John has several levels of Girl Scouts. We are part of the Woodland Mounds Service Unit and the Great Rivers Girl Scout Council (of Cincinnati.) There is so much for our girls to do in scouting; it's not just crafts!
Some of the things our girls do: camping! overnights/lockins, Juliette Gordon Lowe's birthday celebration, bowling night, skate night, older girl ski trip, Operation Christmas Child, visits to the fire and police stations, march in the West Chester Memorial Day parade, volunteer at the Rescue Horse Farm, make blankets for homeless, sell cookies!, participate in the Girl Scout Sunday mass, plant flowers, God's Gardeners, attend programs at Miami University (Art Museum, Girl Scout Engineering Day,) learn games from around the world, party!
Each troop has it's own personality and decides what they want to accomplish throughout the year(s.) Daisies can earn petals as they learn about scouting, Brownies earn Try-its as they try new things. Juniors earn Interest badges as they get a little more specific about their likes and dislikes; Cadettes and Seniors can earn interest badges as well as studio 2B charms that help the girls focus on becoming
competent, confident women preparing to go out into the world.
Being a Girl Scout at St. John specifically allows the girls to participate in special activities such as all-troop holiday parties, a fish fry (parents, too!) Girl Scout Sunday choir, award banquets, and other fun events and service projects that come up throughout the year.
