Protecting Our Children - Adult Volunteer Training
We are implementing a new training and certification program in child abuse awareness for ALL ADULT volunteers who work with our children and teens. NEW adult volunteers: This training is mandatory and must be completed along with being fingerprinted at an archdiocesan location (and only after we receive approval notification) before you may work with the young people of our parish. If you have been an adult volunteer in the past, this new training and certification must be completed within the next twelve months. (Present volunteers will NOT be required to be fingerprinted again unless they have changed their location of service.) This new program (called VIRTUS) is being applied across the entire archdiocese for all adult volunteers that work with children. You may attend training here or at another parish. Our next training session is July 9 or August 8 at 7pm in Rooms D/E. Pre-registration is required. Email Gail to register at gmotz@stjohnwc.org. The schedule for all locations is online at www.Virtusonline.com. This policy applies to coaches, all scouting volunteers, babysitters, catechists, assistant coaches, assistant catechists, and ALL ADULTS who work with children and teens. Contact Gail Motz for more information at 777-6433 or gmotz@stjohnwc.org NOTE: New volunteers will NOT be permitted to work with our children at all until this training, fingerprinting, and approval process is COMPLETE.
IMPORTANT: Because of the content of the videos shown at this training, children under 18 are not permitted to attend and childcare is not available. Please plan accordingly.
