We spent much of the meeting learning from Brett about how the new Parish web site works behind the scenes:

• We decided to move the Current Bulletin link to the center of the home page instead of the Parish Organizations menu. It appears that the Text Editor no longer can set the size of fonts. The link for the Current Bulletin should be larger.
• Dan had completed the Festival Volunteer form. It looks good but, we were waiting for final go-ahead from Ken Krusling to add a link from the Festival pages.
• Dan had added info on Acrobat to the Bulletin page. He should probably do the same for the Eagle's Wings page.
• Steve had updated the CRHP page to put in the correct dates for the Women's weekend. He also added a CRHP Interest form. However, there are problems with the forms setup - the confirmation message and email address to receive the results of a form submittal are not saved. We need to resolve the form problems. Brett was going to look into this. One other outstanding item is inserting images.
• Brett updated Kathy's account so that she could login to see how the site works.
• Much of the meeting involved the demo of how the web site works on the server. One can access the server using ftp at ftp://www.stjohnwc.org/. The committee will share the login info separately.
  • The Drupal files are located at /home/stjohnwc/drupal. The themes directory contains the different themes available on the web site. The default theme is stjohn. Brett created stjohn-test for the committee's use.
  • The key files to modify to change a theme are: page.tpl.php and style.css. These files are used to set the web site's style. These files or all of the files for the theme could be copied to the local computer. Then the files could be edited and copied back to the web site. Brett demonstrated how to modify these files to change the appearance of the web site.
  • To create a new theme, one could copy the stjohn directory to another name. Then go Administer -> Themes to enable to new theme. Then you would need to go to Administer -> Users to edit your personal settings to select the new theme. Then any changes made in the theme could be viewed on the web site.
• The next committee meeting is Monday, August 20 at 7:15 PM in Undercroft E. Dan scheduled the remaining comittee meetings for the coming year. The dates are: September 17, October 15, December 4 (Tuesday), March 10, 2008, April 21, May 19, June 16. The January and February dates are TBD and we are skipping November 2007.
