With the launch of the new Drupal web site, we had many topics to discuss. We started with the needs of the Festival Committee:

We had some issues with getting setup that we finally resolved. We also spoke with Brett on the phone.

The main purpose of the meeting was to review the status of the new web site and determine what we need to do to fix any issues.

April 2007 Web Committee Meeting Minutes

We had our most productive meeting in many months leading to the launch of the new web site. The new web site is administered via Drupal. Drupal is a content management tool that will allow the parish organization and staff to post their own content. Also Drupal has functionality being added all of the time. Future improvements can be made via Drupal modules.

We welcomed Cathy Stamper to the committee. We look forward to her insight for improving the web site.

March 2007 Meeting Minutes

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss finally launching the drupal web site. We agreed to make a list of the items we'd like to resolve as soon as possible to support the launch. We are targeting the launch for Sunday, March 25th.

This was an important meeting to discuss launching the new site. Here was we discussed:

  • The first part of the meeting was spent navigating through the new site and also demonstrating how pages can be edited and added.
  • There are several changes needed to the Home Page.
    • The login box should indicate that only people updating the site needs to login.
    • We'll have a box on the right side of the home page to have links for Organizations and Ministries
    • We'd like to have a box showing the latest three News and Notes Articles
    • We'd like Brett to consider different color schemes for the new site.

It was a great meeting to end the year. We look forward to starting off 2007 with a big change. We are targeting January 15th for the launch of the new drupal web site as www.stjohnwc.org. Here's what we discussed:

  • We need Brett to fix Daily Mass Schedule on the current web site. Steve could not find the file to change. The Drupal site has it correct.
  • We need to fix Fr. Linh's email address on the web site (Steve will do this).
  • We need to add a link to News and Notes to the menu.

  • Steve and Debbie reviewed the current status of the Drupal web site.
  • Debbie reported that she worked with Intensity Software personnel to resolve issues with uploading the Ministers Schedule. It should be uploaded very soon. She also mentioned that PDS will be adding a new feature for a Ministers Schedule.
  • We'd like Dan to try to upload the current calendar info to the Drupal web site.
  • We still need Brett to focus on the new Home Page and interactive portions of the web site: News and Notes, From Father Mark, Meeting Minutes, and the Daily Readings links.

October 2006 Meeting Minutes

  • Steve and Brett reviewed the current status of the Drupal web site and made good progress.
  • Brett is going focus on the new Home Page and interactive portions of the web site: News and Notes, From Father Mark, Meeting Minutes, and the Daily Readings links. We decided to skip working on the Forums for now.
  • We worked on the method for updating the Parish Calendar on the drupal site. Brett copied the current Parish Calendar html file and pasted it into the Drupal Parish Calendar page. On this page, we had disabled rich-text and turned on full HTML for the format.

  • Prior to the meeting, Greg Grewe had sent an email resigning from the committee. We thank Greg for his super work on the committee and for the parish in general. Greg will be missed. We miss him the best. 
  • The Forums page on the current web site has had thousands of inappropriate messages posted. Debbie had removed the link and at the meeting, we turned off the forums. Eventually, we'll need to work with the Drupal forums.
  • We had a long discussion about the organization of the new web site and decided to try to utilize books for each section in the web site instead of the "sections" that Brett had setup.

August 2006 Meeting Minutes

8/14/2006

We again worked on the new Drupal site during the meeting. First, we worked on the Communications Page.

  • We showed Dan how to upload the Bulletin and created a separate Bulletin page. Dan will add the previous bulletins from 2006 and create a new page for Eagle's Wings.
  • We also used the Webform content type to start to create the new Space Request Form. Dan will work to complete the form when he has time. Eventually, we need to create all of the web forms with the Webform module. If anyone wants to work on a web form, please let everyone else know.

July 2006 Meeting Minutes

7/10/2006

First, Happy Anniversary to Kathy who had an "excused" absence to celebrate with her husband.

We had a very productive meeting working through several issues on the Drupal site.

Brett has corrected the problems with the website "Theme" which controls the look and feel. The new site looks very good. He also changed the file upload limit to 10 Mb for the Committee and 5 Mb for others. This was done using Administer->Settings->Upload.

Themes are created using Style Sheets that need to be uploaded to the web site. Brett is working on the current style sheet.

Here's what we discussed:

Steve worked on the menu structure and it's now similar to the current web site menu. Doug created several pages. We added links to portions of the original site that have not yet been moved to drupal.

We missed Greg and Brett's presence at the meeting since we need to check the current status of the drupal web site and determine what work needs to be done. We discussed the plan to move to the drupal web site and determined several questions to be resolved:

1) How can we upload files greater than 1 Mb so that the Bulletin can be uploaded?

May 2006 Web Committee Meeting - 5/16/2006

Here's what we discussed:

Most of the meeting involved discussing the new drupal web site. We showed Kathy and Dan how the new site works. Brett worked on an example web form to show how the forms can work. The forms can send the entered data via an email and the results are managed directly on the drupal web site and the total results can be downloaded in csv format.

Brett has created a Website Handbook under the Web Committee section to show how anyone on the Committee can create sections on the new web site.

April Web Committee Meeting Minutes - April 25, 2006

We welcomed Doug Kelley to the committee. We look forward to working with him. Here's what we discussed:

There is a problem with the Calendar. The Home page no longer displays the current day's calendar items. Since we are working on moving to the drupal web site, this is a low priority to fix.

There is also a problem with the Articles tool in the CMS. Brett is going to see if we can replace the article Editor with a newer version to see if that corrects the problem.


We again spent much of the meeting working with the new web site that uses the web management tool called drupal - the new page is located at http://drupal.stjohnwc.org. We looked at the info that has been copied to the new site and discussed the different features that we are using so far. We added some new modules. We discovered that when you add a module, you need to grant access to the various roles on the drupal web site using the Administer link. We switched the directions link to point to a Google map. Eventually we should use the drupal map module.
