At St. John, faith formation and sacramental preparation include parish and family, working together form the whole child in a safe and inclusive environment. We have two options for the Parish School of Religion:
In-Class PSR: In this option, students meet once a week. For first through sixth graders, parents have the option for their child to attend either Wednesday classes from 6:30 to 7:45pm or Sunday morning classes from 10:45 to 12pm. Seventh and eighth graders will meet on Sundays from 5:00 to 6:30pm. Fees before July 31: $70 per child, $210 family maximum. Beginning August 1: $80 per child, $240 family maximum. Weekly volunteers: As a "Thank You" for your time and talent, your children attend PSR free of charge. Home Study PSR: The parent goes through the coursework with their child at home during the school year. The parent and child also attend a few meetings and events throughout the year as part of the PSR requirement. Fees are the same as above. Home study includes family time for reading, reflection and chapter assessments, as well as two parent-child gatherings with other Home Study families. The gatherings are on November 7, 2021, January 23, 2022 and March 27, 2022 and these are a required component of the Home Study Commitment. Please note: You must be a registered parishioner to enroll your child in faith formation classes at St. John. (If you and your family would like to become members at St. John, please click here.) If you have any questions about which program would be best for your child, please contact Mary Montour in the Parish Office. PSR Options

Junior High PSR Jr. High students (7th & 8th grade) will be using the textbook series Finding God (copyright 2021) from Loyola Press. This faith formation includes more hands-on activities, including service, and a discussion-based community. (7th & 8th grade students may also sign up for Home Study which also uses the Finding God (copyright 2021) Series.) Home Study This option is available to families of children, grades 1 – 8, using the Finding God (copyright 2021) textbook series. The time frame for home study is the same as class room study: September – April. In addition there will be three Sunday afternoon gatherings throughout the year to give families an opportunity to reflect and dialogue with other home study families. The family gatherings are a requirement of the home study curriculum.
